Recently, our work on highly efficient first-generation molecular motors was published in Nature Chemistry. Jinyu and co-workers found that the application of a versatile synthetic approach based on a Rieche formylation boosts the efficiency in the motor’s rotation cycle while drastically reducing competing photoreactions. You can find the original publication here, or read all about it in the news article that was written about it for ScienceLinx: More efficient molecular motor widens potential applications.
