Zpannend Zernike

Wat Zpannend! Last weekend at Zpannend Zernike, our group members Ilayda,
Martijn, June and Sina had great fun showing future little scientists how light can
be used to turn medicines on and off.

Our goal was to spark curiosity and inspire young minds to discover how chemistry,
light, and biology come together in science. It was wonderful to see the excitement
of children as they watched color-changing beads respond to light, creating self-
made glowing bracelets, and learned how in the future, patients might receive light-
activated drugs that become active only where the disease is.
And the best part? “Ik wil ook scheikunde doen!” we could hopefully show young kids
that chemistry and light is extremely cool.
